Plume is a new series made by SMC, focus on making ultra light mini size carbon wheels, carbon rim, carbon handlebar, carbon parts etc. Plume means lightweight, committed to made for lighter, made for speed. Let's first look 16" 349 Plume carbon rims and wheels for Brompton bicycle.

Plume 349 carbon rim:

We optimized the carbon rim structural, lowed the rim height to 22MM, and with a aerodynamic design, using both T800 and T700 carbon fiber, which can guarantee the wheel linghter and still strong. The plume 349 carbon rim only 185±10g/pc, save about 55g than old 38MM normal version.

Plume 349 carbon wheelset:

Wheelset build with hubsmith straight pulled hub, which is a ultra light hub only 274g/pair, hub material using alloy 6061 T6, Axle material using alloy 7075 T6, and with TPI ceramic bearing. This hub is design for Brompton by Hubsmith, two types freehub optional: Traditional 2 speed or external 3/4-speed.

 Front wheel with 14H holes paired spokes design, which beautiful and lighter. Carbon rim has a good strength and rigidity, so 14H is enough for city riding, compare to normal 28H holes, it would much lighter.

Rear wheel design with 20H holes, non-drive side spokes lacing with radial, drive-side lacing with 2x cross, which lighter, beautiful and strong. The wheelset using HT aero blade spokes (2.5mm wide) and Pillar aluminum nipples, which have a good aero.

Precise calculation carbon rim's spoke hole angle to proper fit the hub's hole, which decrease spoke tension and spoke fatigue. In addition, the Plume Ultra light series will with a new desgin "PLUME" decal.
